Alabama: Moore's Tour of the SEC
Scott Moore is known around the South as the host of "Southern Sports Tonight", a weekday radio show covering SEC college football. However, Moore is also known for giving fans a taste of the whole SEC, as he impersonates several famous SEC characters.
"It all started when I was young," Moore said, relaxing in his chair. "You know how in every family, there's someone, an aunt or uncle, that you end up impersonating? Well, that's how I got started. I was so involved in sports and hearing all of the great figures of the SEC that eventually, by listening to them for a long time, I could end up speaking just like them."
The charasmatic Moore has toured the South, impersonating coaches at Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and several other SEC schools. He didn't start out as a broadcaster, but fortunately found his calling.
"I was a sports agent for around five years," Moore said. "I always wanted to do this though. This is exactly what I've wanted to do."
Name a legend in the SEC, and most likely, Moore can do a spot-on impression of the character. From Lou Holtz to Mike Shula, Moore covers the full gauntlet of SEC characters.
"At last count, I am able to do around 75 impersonations of SEC figures," Moore said.
The impersonations not only come in handy at dinners and alumni gatherings, but also on his radio show, which he does from his apartment in Tuscaloosa.
"We're now on 144 stations across the South," said Moore. "We're really picking up stations and popularity."
Then, Moore launched into his incredible array of impersonations.
As Mike Shula, "We're going to get better...we've got to run the ball better," while nodding and lowering his head just a little in the classic Shula pose.
As Steve Spurrier, "We just aren't good enough at South Carolina...not yet...but we're going to work on it."...with just the right amount of pauses in between, echoing Spurrier's mannerisms.
Lou Holtz, Phillip Fulmer, Tommy Tuberville...Moore does them all. But when he got to MSU's Sylvester Croom and former Alabama coach Gene Stallings, he left everyone in the room in awe. To put it best, if you closed your eyes and listened, there was absolutely no way you could tell it was Scott Moore, and not Croom or Stallings.
Moore isn't close to stopping with his impressions, though.
"I'm working on a scene as if Bill Clinton was the head football coach at Arkansas," Moore said, "and Frank Broyles, being the athletic director, would be advising him on how to coach the team."
The success of the show, and the popularity of Moore, is due in part to the rabid fan base of the SEC.
"We talk college football on this show every day, even well into the offseason," Moore said. "The passion of the fans, the energy they put into football, that's what makes SEC football so unique from anywhere else."

First of all the Bammers have reached an all-time low when they are celebrating a #1 recruiting class and recruiting victory over Auburn before it is even official, asking "have you heard anything about Julio Jones" to the point that it is absolutely disgraceful and embarrassing, and now claiming a Saban victory in an imaginary fist fight with Tommy Tuberville. First of all, is Nick going to use a step ladder or a step stool in order to reach Tommy's neck in your scenario where he takes Tubs out by attacking his weak point?. I'll be the first to admit that Tommy is no Rogue scholar, but do really think he wouldn't figure out that something was up by the time Nick got to the 2nd or 3rd rung? You also asked the question "who would win in a debate"? Paul, have you ever actually watched Nick's football review on Sunday's? This guy comes off like a 3rd grader reciting his book report in front of the class and the format looks like a porn movie filmed in your basement with a $100 dollar budget. Now if it came down to "catastrophic event" speeches, Nick would win hands down.
This is hilarious. Also, Tom Luginbill is going to have to hire a body guard if he doesn't come on your show every week from this point until signing day and claim UAT as the #1 recruiting class. I mean you are wasting your breath by conducting a real interview the way you do with him each week. All the Bammers want to hear is him recite the same statement, "Alabama has the #1 recruiting class in the nation and Julio Jones is absolutely, positively going to Alabama". Anything after that sounds like the adults when they speak on the "Peanuts/Charlie Brown" cartoons, "wah wah wahhh, wah wah wahhh, wah-wahhhhhhh".
You also said earlier on the show today that the bammers were such good fans that they are always optimistic and you used the example that even though "Auburn has won 6 in a row, you would think that it was the other way around sometimes". You were searching for the right word to describe this attitude on the part of the bammers. Well, I have several: Idiotic, ludicrous, moronic, absurd, irrational, foolish, sad, pathetic, typical bammer, etc. I actually heard a caller yesterday say that he was a "realistic Bamma fan" or a "rational bamma fan", something like that. Paul, could you explain to me exactly what that is? I don't think that I have ever heard of that creature before. Is it something like the unicorn or big foot? A mythical creature that people talk about, draw pictures of, is a creature of legend that people (mostly people that live in trailor parks) claim to have seen, but there is no actual proof that this creature actually exists? A rational Bammer? I believe that is an oxymoron, with emphasis on the MORON. Speaking of morons, Shane has even gone off the deep end. He is a straight-up bammer in the first degree, but at least he usually will call out UAT for stupid decisions and poor performance. He, along with Jim, are 2 of 1000 that call your show that will do that. However, even Shane is resorting to the saddest of tactics lately, by spending 90% of his air time trying to brain wash high school athletes and ignorant bammers into believing that Tony Franklin actually did something wrong while he was in KY. He said that "Tommy better watch his back". I imagine that Shane is a little more worried that Saban should watch his back. You have a man of integrity (or according to Shane's definition, "a rat") across the state who will be in many of the same living rooms that Satan will be in and he will hear some of the stories about The Red Elephant club, Nick, and other boosters and their "aggressive" (or according to my definition, illegal) recruiting practices.
I believe you got onto that caller a little bit though and told him that you were a little tired of hearing all of the bammers chanting "we are beating Auburn in recruiting" in unison. You told him that it is getting a little ridiculous, and there is a huge difference between a recruiting class and its rank on paper, and how that translates to performance on the field. Amen to that brother. If you actually average Auburn and Alabama's recruiting rankings over the past 6 years, you will find that they are pretty damn close, and Bamma is actually ahead in a few of those polls. What has the result been on the field the past 6 years Paul? Enough said. I was so glad to hear you call that guy out, and actually a little surprised by it. It is the truth, though. I mean I would be getting a little embarrassed by the infinite amount of phone calls that only want to talk about recruiting, but take the old bury-your-head-in-the-sand approach to the actual performance and state of the Bammer program, its coaches and the mass exodus that occurred over the past few weeks, and its utter lack of performance on the field. Shut the hell up Bammers!!!! Leave Tommy alone people!!!!! (sorry for channeling the spirit of Phyillis for that one Paul)
Until you win one stinking game on the field, bow to your daddy and keep those damn filthy ass, buttery-one-toothed, red-man breath, ignorant-ass mouths shut bammers. Paul, would you please pass that sentiment along to your listeners for me?

Scott Moore has never been the "host" of MY show, Southern Sports Tonight. He has served as a co-host from time and time. Also, where he came up with 144 stations is beyond me. I own the network and this information is not correct.
